After Easter

Well, I hope you've managed to eat all those lovely Easter eggs and not be TOO sick!
Now that you're back at school after another wee holiday, it'll be time to work towards those lovely reports!! I do hope your teachers are kind to you.

The summer term was always one of my favourites. I used to love getting outside to work, paint, practise for sports, and plan the summer trip. Do you still have trips these days? I hope you do! One of my most memorable ones was when I took a whole class of P7 pupils on a cruise to Russia. That was quite an adventure. I remember one pupil causing chaos when we were visiting a pioneer village in Copenhagen. The said pupil decided not to pay any attention to the notices, and touched one of the items on display. The alarms went off and the WHOLE village with hundreds of visitors in it had to be emptied. I won't name the boy, but his brother is a very famous football manager.

Have Fun

Holiday Time

Posted by auntieray on April 2, 2006 at 11:34 AM Comments comments (0)

So here we are, it's April, and it's holiday time again! I bet you're all enjoying  much-deserved long lies and playing outside later at night. I used to love the Easter holidays when I was teaching. Everyone needed the break after the long term from Christmas, and with sunny days around it fair brightened up our spirits.

We used to have an Easter Hat Parade as well as the usual egg-decorating competition before we finished school. I can remember some amazing creations, and the difficult job of choosing the ones to be given prizes. In fact I may well have a photo lurking in an old shoe-box somewhere which I'll look for and post.

What did you do this Easter?

Snow and snow and more snow

Posted by auntieray on March 13, 2006 at 11:09 AM Comments comments (0)

I can't remember exactly when we last had such a fall of snow, but it must have been when I was teaching in Mosshead in Bearsden.

It fell overnight to a depth of at least ten inches, causing me and many others to try to make it to work on foot, wearing a very fashionable pair of snowboots.

I'm now more than half way through writing a full length story for 7-10 yearolds called Wee Kirky. This is a new venture for me, since I usually write much shorter stories. You'll find the first chapter on my website. Hope you enjoy it!

How are you all getting on with your writing? I'm hoping to see more and more of YOUR creations!! So why not get writing!!

Hello there friends!
I have to say a special thank you to Eilidh for inviting me to her party as Auntie Ray. I thoroughly enjoyed telling her story and meeting all her friends. Thank you too to her mum dad and Callum for looking after me so nicely today!

Auntie Ray's Out and About

Hello again!
I'm off to do my very first Auntie Ray Birthday Party.
My young friend Eilidh is seven today and her party is tomorrow.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY EILIDH!!

Birthdays are special times. At my age I don't really like to remember them, for then I know how old I am. And I am VERY OLD! But it is nice to have cards and a cake and some special presents on the day. I hope Eilidh has a lovely day today. I look forward to seeing her tomorrow!

Do enjoy YOUR birthday when it comes!!

Brave New Lambs

How would you feel?

Over the last few days I've seen at least 6 new lambs. They've been cuddled close to their mums and must be VERY cold at nights. Imagine being born into the world when it's so cold? It's just as well that they're born with good warm fleecy coats. They certainly need them!

I think it would make a good story to imagine the first few hours of a new wee lamb's life. What do you think?
